Laureate
doc. Mgr. Martin Setvín, Ph.D.
Neuron Prize 2022 for Promising Scientists in physics
For research on non-conductive materials
He aims to find out why some materials generate photovoltage and how the energy can be used. Possible applications range from electronics to fuels. Doc. Setvín is a surface physicist who has perfected scanning probe microscopy – obtaining previously unseen atomically resolved images on non-conducting materials. In his group at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at the Charles University, he continues to explore their practical applications. Doc. Setvín is one of the most respected names in Czech physics, as evidenced by his publications in the Nature and Science journals.
