Member of the Scientific council of Physics
Motto: "Never stop exploring."
Martin Schnabl's research currently focuses on the string field theory and its relationship to two-dimensional quantum conformal field theory.
He works as a senior researcher in the Department of Particle Theory and Phenomenology, Institute of Physics, Czech Academy of Sciences, his research dedicated to the solutions of classical motion equations in exact analytical form. He plans to explore challenging topics related to quantum effects in the string field theory or its physical application in particle phenomenology and cosmology.
In the past he researched classification of three-dimensional superconformal theories, stable domain walls with false supersymmetry, and noncommutative geometry in the string field theory. His first research studies dealt with anomalies in the quantum field theory.
He received his Ph.D. in 2001 at the International School for Advanced Studies in Terst (SISSA) and spent another seven years in postdoctoral fellowships at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, USA; European Laboratory for Particle Physics (CERN) in Geneva, and at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton.
In 2007, he received the prestigious European Young Investigator Award (EURYI) from the European Heads of Research Councils (EUROHORC) that allowed him to establish a string theory research group at the Institute of Physics, Czech Academy of Sciences.
Since 2016, he has been Project Coordinator for the newly built Central European Institute for Cosmology and Fundamental Physics (CEICO) funded by the EU.
In 2017 he joined the Neuron Science Board as an expert in Physics.
