Neuron has three new scientific board members
According to its statutes, the Scientific Council of the Neuron Endowment Fund has changed the composition of the Scientific Council. The new members are RNDr. Jan Starý (guarantor in the field of chemistry), prof. Jan Kratochvíl (guarantor in the field of computer science) and doc. Tomáš Pajdla (member of the board in the field of computer science). Prof. Jan Konvalinka remains the Chairman of the Scientific Council. We would like to thank the former members of the Scientific Board and we look forward to working with the new members.
Ivo Starý
Guarantor of the Scientific council in the field of Chemistry
Ivo Starý is the head of the research group at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry CAS in the position of "distinguished chair". He is an organic chemist, but his area of research interest goes beyond this field. The group's research focuses on the design and preparation of non-trivial π-electron systems and the study of their properties using experimental and theoretical methods. The long-term goal is the design of smart molecular devices.
Jan Kratochvíl
Guarantor of the Scientific council in the field of Computer Science
Jan Kratochvíl is an expert in theoretical computer science and combinatorics. His research interests lie in structural and algorithmic graph theory, computational complexity, and discrete and computational geometry. He studied at Charles University and worked at the University of Oregon, Université Metz, and LaBRI Bordeaux. From 2012-2020, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University. In 2002-2010 he was the president of the Czech Mathematical Society.
Tomáš Pajdla
Member of the Scientific council in the field of Computer Science
Tomáš Pajdla is an expert in computer vision, robotics, and the application of mathematics in engineering. He combines a successful career as a scientist with business experience. He studied at the Czech Technical University, where he currently works at the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics, lectures at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University, and is a visiting Associate professor at the National Institute of Informatics in Japan. He also works for MAGIK Eye, a company that produces 3D sensors.
