Neuron & IOCB Tech Internships in Israel

Nadace Neuron and the IOCB Tech Endowment Fund are opening the student scholarships Neuron & IOCB Tech Internships in Israel. The aim of the programme is to bring knowledge from abroad into Czech science: university students will work on their own research in Israel and will also get to know the Israeli research ecosystem, with its focus on applied research, commercialisation and transfer. The new programme is unique in that its contacts and connections steer students of any field to the best Israeli universities and their professors — and so make sure they get the most out of the two-month stay for their own work.

Conditions for applying

  • Czech citizenship or permanent residence in Czechia, and study at a Czech university from the third year of a bachelor's degree to the first year of doctoral study
  • A letter of recommendation from a guarantor at a Czech institution
  • A positive statement from the Israeli supervisor about accepting you for the internship in Israel (letter of intent)
  • A completed application, a covering letter, a CV and the internship programme

Timetable 2023

  • 10 January – applications open
  • 15 March – applications close
  • second half of March – assessment of the applications
  • 31 March – the new interns are announced
  • April – signing of the contract, payment of the grant and preparatory training
  • 1 May – 15 September – the internships take place

The project organisers

  • Neuron & IOCB Tech Internships in Israel is a grant programme of Nadace Neuron and the IOCB Tech Endowment Fund, with the support of the First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, the Czech-Israeli Mutual Chamber of Commerce, the Embassy of the State of Israel in the Czech Republic and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Israel.
  • The internships are intended for students of Czech universities in every field who want to enrich their research with experience of how Israeli science works, gain a new perspective on their own work and spread what they learn in the Czech Republic.
  • The internship can take place at any Israeli university. The choice of institution depends on the area of the student's research and on the willingness of the Israeli supervisor to accept them. If needed, we can arrange an introduction to the Weizmann Institute of Science, the Technion, the Hebrew University and Tel Aviv University.
  • The two-month internship must take place between 1 May and 15 September of the given year.
  • In 2023 the grant will be awarded to ten students; each will receive CZK 60,000 to cover travel costs, visas, accommodation and per diems.
