RNDr. Zuzana Kúkelová, Ph.D.

Neuron Award 2023 for Promising Scientists in Computer Science. Awarded for research in the field of computer vision.

Zuzana Kúkelová is an expert in computer vision. He looks for efficient ways to solve complex mathematical equations that help robots and computers "see" better. It focuses on camera geometry, where its equations help robots understand where things are in space. The results of her research find applications, for example, in autonomous driving, in 3D reconstructions, or in mixed reality. Zuzana Kúkelová was a postdoctoral fellow at Microsoft Research in Cambridge and now works at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague. She is the first woman to receive the Neuron Award for promising scientists in the field of Computer Science.

How do computers see? And how to improve robots' vision and orientation in space? Zuzana Kúkelová, the laureate of the 2023 Neuron Award for promising scientists in the field of Computer Science, is looking for answers.

The Neuron Award is, first and foremost, a great honor and recognition for me, and, at the same time, recognition of the scientific work and issues we are working on with my colleagues and students. At the same time, this award is a massive motivation for the future and a confirmation that my path is the right one and that I should continue on it.
