Josef Stehlik, MD, MPH is Christi T. Smith Professor of Medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine. He has received his medical degree from Charles University in Prague and Masters of Public Health degree from Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, MA. He completed his training in Internal Medicine and in Cardiovascular Diseases at Allegheny General Hospital, MCP*Hahnemann University in Pittsburgh, PA and advanced training in Heart Failure and Transplantation at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH.
Josef Stehlik has been on faculty at the University of Utah since 2004. He is Co-Chief of the Advanced Heart Failure section and Medical Director of the Heart Transplant Program at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center and the Salt Lake City VA Medical Center.
Dr. Stehlik has has been active in clinical work, research and education. He serves as Director of the International Thoracic Registry of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. He has received extramural research funding in the areas of heart failure, heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support from the American Heart Association, the Veterans Health Administration, the Veterans Affairs Center for Innovation, the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation and other sources. He is author of over 150 peer-reviewed publications and a number of book chapters.
