Professor Endre Süli FRS is mathematician, whose field of research is concerned with the numerical analysis of nonlinear partial differential equations in continuum mechanics. He was educated at the University of Belgrade, and as a British Council visiting student at the University of Reading and St Catherine's College, University of Oxford.

He received his doctorate from the University of Belgrade in 1985. Later that year he was appointed to a faculty position at the University of Oxford, where he is a Professor of Numerical Analysis at the Mathematical Institute and a Fellow of Worcester College.

His contributions have earned him numerous honours, including election as a Foreign Member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts in 2009, a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences in 2010, a Fellow of SIAM in 2016, a Member of the Academia Europaea in 2020, and a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2021. Between 2002 and 2005 he served as Chair of the Society for the Foundations of Computational Mathematics. He was an Invited Speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Madrid in 2006, and was the recipient of London Mathematical Society’s 2021 Naylor Prize and Lectureship.
